Who we are

Love Jesus Love People

Calvary Chapel Fellowship is a non-denominational Christian church in fellowship with the Calvary Chapel Association, led by Pastor Jairus Hodges. We desire to follow Jesus’ teaching that says people should worship Him in spirit and truth. So, we remain open to the leading of the Spirit while also consistently teach the Bible verse by verse. We also desire to be in unity with all churches that hold to the foundational truths of Christianity as declared in the Bible. Our goal is to be a church that is both Bible based and Spirit filled. We want to love Jesus and love people.

How we got here

Founding Pastor

Danny Hodges

After surrendering his life to Christ at age 19, Danny attended and graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He then followed God’s leading to serve with fellow college friends who began a new church in St. Petersburg, Florida.  When the founding pastor had to relocate to his home state, Danny accepted the offer to assume the role of senior pastor for this small young church in April 1984.  Two years later he married Wendy and soon after became associated with the fellowship of churches known as Calvary Chapel. Danny faithfully served a steadily increasing church family while raising his own family of three sons and a daughter.  As the church expanded they moved into a renovated Walmart building where Calvary Chapel St. Petersburg grew to a thriving  congregation of over 4,000 members.  Astonished and humbled by this unexpected growth, Danny knew this was nothing short of the blessing and gracious hand of God.

In July 2017 Danny recognized another clear call of God to start a new church in the area specifically dedicated to raising up the next generation of church leaders.  The Lord opened doors for the founding of Calvary Chapel Fellowship (CCF) and miraculously supplied both a building and the funds to purchase the property within the first year.  For the next six years Danny remained faithful to the four pillars of Acts 2:42, while training and raising up young leaders, including his son Jairus who had served from the start of CCF in several areas of ministry.  Danny’s vision was realized when church leadership ordained Jairus as the new lead pastor in May 2024.  After continuing as part-time staff for the next six months, Danny fully retired in January 2025 yet remains an active “volunteer” as he likes to say.  He continues to serve in several capacities including teaching various classes and preaching from time to time.  Both Danny and Wendy are confident in the obvious calling, giftings, and anointing of God on Jairus’ life.  Offering their full support and encouragement, they are excited to see how the Lord will continue to bless and increase the ministry of CCF to further the gospel of Jesus Christ.
